Halfway Through

We are almost halfway through our master projects and I learned a lot this week. I learned even more about Adobe Illustrator and Adobe photoshop. I learned how to reflect an image in illustrator and also how to format logos. Our group has not made that much progress on our project , but we have started creating the foundation for our project.

I hope to learn a lot next week. I want to learn what our robot program is going to be because we just recieved the new robot console today. I also want to learn what the foundation of our structure will look like. I am going to learn this by observing our group create the robot program and the foundation.

Second Week of Master Projects

I learned a lot this week during our master projects. I learned all about logo design and Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. I also learned how to change the opacity of a picture and I used that skill to create a background for our powerpoint. Next week, I hope to learn how we are going to create our master project. I am going to learn this by our whole group brainstorming to come up with our final ideas.

First full week of Master Project

It is our first full week of the master projects and I have learned a lot. So far, I have learned the basics of how we are going to make a handicap-assist lifting device. Also, I have learned about the substantial impacts of these devices on society and the economy. Right now, we are working on the writing portion of our master projects.

I want to learn a lot next week. Primarily, I want to know exactly how we are going to create our handicap assist machine. I am going to learn this by our group creating the initial plans of our machine. I also want to learn what we are going to be able to use for our project. I will found this out when Mr. Kastenberg gives us our bucket after we turn in all of our research papers. So far, it has been quite interesting.

First Day of Master Project

It is the first day of our master projects. We chose our groups and the master projects. Our project is to build a handicap assist device. This requires the use of many skills from lthe modules that we have taken. Basically, we need to use a robot to pick up a ream of paper and mark it using a pen. It is difficult to explain because it is quite complicated.

I am the vice president of our company called House’s Helpers. I wanted to be the president, but I was the president last year. We have a little more than six weeks to complete this module. We have to create a powerpoint, website, and many research papers in addition to the device. I have to write a research paper about the impacts of handicap assist devices.

Three days left

It is Friday and after today, we will only have two more days left on this module. The deadline for all the work, the career paper, and the extra LAP assignment is on Tuesday. We will also be taking the test over our modules on Tuesday as well. That means this is going to be quite a stressful couple of days even though I am almost finished with my module.

So far, I have completed all of the work for Design of Structures 2, I have taken all of the quizzes, and I have completed my career paper. That means that all I have left to do is study for the test and complete the extra lap assignment. Because I did well on the quizzes, I should do well on the test. Hopefully, I will get everything done by the deadline.

The Home Stretch

We are now entering the home stretch of our modules. I am almost finished with the module Design of Structures 2. I have completed all of the LAP books and taken all of the quizzes. So far, I have gotten an 80, 100, and a 93 on the quizzes. This is fairly good, but I could have done better. I also completed all of the work and notes for my module.

Because I have finished all of the LAP work and quizzes, I only have three things left to do. However, they will not be easy. First, I have to create an extra LAP assignment because my module only has three LAPs. Then, I have to write a career paper on an occupation that deals with my module. Last, I must take my test covering all the material I have learned in this module. It should be tough.

Almost Done

It is the last day of the week and we are about to enter the homestretch of our modules. Today, Mr. K informed us that we only have a week and a few days left. This may be troubling for some, but I am moving quite rapidly so I do not have to worry. As a result, I would say Design of Structures 2 has been a success.

Right now, I am almost done with LAP 3 of Design of Structures 2 called building design and construction. This LAP book is fairly easy and short. I have learned all about the basics of building structures and the discipline of structural engineering. This module should help me in the future if I want to go into that field of study.

LAP 3!

It is Tuesday and I am in another day of Engineering Concepts. I am on the module Design of Structures 2, which basically teaches me all about different structures and buildings and how to construct them. So far, this module is pretty interesting and I have learned quite a bit. However, this module has been harder than my last one.

Right now, I am working on Lap 3 of Design of Structures 2 called Building Design and Construction. I am learning the fudamentals of constructing various types of buildings. I am also learning the different factors that can affect buildings like wind, rain, earthquakes, and floods. I am moving along very quickly and I should take the quiz fairly soon.

Halfway through with LAP 3

It is the Friday of the second week of our new modules. I am working on Design of Structures 2. So far, I have completed LAPs 1 and 2. I took both of the quizzes and got an 80 on the first one and a 100 on the second one. I am moving very quickly because the LAPs are relatively short. I should be done with LAP 3 next week.

Currently, I am working on LAP 3 of my module called Building Design and Construction. I am learning the fundamentals of designing structures. I have learned about the materials that make up buildings and the basic elements of structures. I hope to take the quiz next week.

Almost Done With LAP 2

I am in the second week of my module called Design of Structures 2. I finished LAP 1 earlier this week. In that LAP, I learned all about beam deflection and column buckling. I took the quiz and got an 80 which is not terrible but I could have done much better.

Right now, I am almost finished with LAP 2 called introduction to concrete. I am learning all about the basics of concrete and what it is used for. I was supposed to make my own concrete beams, but unfortunately we don’t have the materials. I am probably going to take the LAP Quiz tomorrow, so I need to study. I hopefully will do better than the last quiz.
